What Customers Say About Polycom Soundpoint Pro SE-225 2-Line Professional Conference Phone with Caller ID:

Had this phone for 3 years. I've tried changing out the phone cable, resetting the software default settings, and such. I have a $250 paperweight (I bought mine at a higher price than at Amazon). The built-in headphone amp is sub-par and cannot adequately raise the volume of sound for the user. Save $100 and buy some other 2-line phone. The 3-way calling (2 lines, conferenced together) has never worked. Intermittently, I could hear a dialtone, but the phone's dialing wouldn't register on the line.Speakerphone quality was okay. Nothing works.

I can hear each party, but they cannot hear each other. Finally, after 3 years, the phone failed. It can't dial out. Software rev is 0.2b if that makes any difference. My company even has a service contract with Polycom and they refuse to help me with this phone.Don't buy it. I had such high hopes for this phone.

Pros:The Soundpoint Pro SE-225 is a solid analog phone. A audio output would be nice to have so that I could better record some of the technical webinars I attend. Why I didn't I just purchase a IP phone.I work in a virtual environment, and our digital team is spread across the nation. I have experienced no humming or quality issues that some of the reviewers have had.Cons:The speaker volume control is somewhat loud even when it is turned down all the way. IP phones also seem to degrade webinar bandwidth as opposed to analog (even though my analog phone is on a digital line). So, I did my research, and this seems to be one of the best analog small office phones available. It would be nice to turn down the volume to zero or mute. It has a pleasing shape and works as advertised. The LED screen design could be significantly upgraded with color, size and resolution.

This product is due for a technical upgrade. It has been around for years, without any significant visible updates. On our daily project call, the two guys that have the worst voice quality in terms of sound level and breakups, both use IP phones. The $59-$99 RCA or ATT phones just didn't have adequate sound.

It also has a limited range for increasing the volume for the call. I am now on my 4th Polycom Soundpoint Pro phone since April 2008. It must be geared for the home user and not for business applications as I am on the telephone 75% of each day with customers and vendors. When you attempt to use the speaker phone, it is reported as being very poor sound quality and I am frequently asked to pick up the headset. I have read on the internet in several places that this same problem has occurred with other users of this particular phone model. I have been very disappointed in the telephones sound quality, performance and features.

It leaves the lines open. If it wasn't for the 1 year warranty, I would have trashed this system a long time ago. The ultimate failures have occurred when the phone will not disconnect the calls. When you attempt to connect two callers via the conferencing feature, the parties cannot hear each other. There is no backlight for the display which makes it difficult to see and I would expect with the price paid for this phone, Polycom could come up with some sort of LED. Tried to trouble shoot but keep getting the same response from customer service that they have not experienced this problem before.

The telephone power supply is plugged in to a surge protector that inturn is plugged into a back up power system; so power surges can't be the problem.

If you have a home office, do yourself a favor buy one; you won't be disappointed. Most importantly people on the other end feel the same way.

As I work from home I wanted something as good as the one I have in my office. Thanks to Polycom Soundpoint Pro SE-225, I can enjoy same audio quality right at home.

Almost every conference room in the world uses a Polycom speakerphone. During conference calls, I hear everyone loud and clear.

This phone is best when used as a speaker phone however you have option to use its handset or attach a headset to its 2.5mm jack. A dedicated button makes it easy to switch between speaker/handset and headset.

With SE-225 I talk naturally and effortlessly - making every call a more productive call. It is a bit expensive but worth every penny.

The main speaker for this product is always powered, so there is a constant low level hiss. Polycom was very prompt and sent out a replacement, which had the same problem. In a normal office environment, the hiss will blend into the white noise background.
